Personna, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality specialty blades and tools, is dedicated to creating blades and bladed products that satisfy the needs of professional, medical and industrial customers. From the most basic to the most advanced product, our goal is to deliver quality, performance and innovation.
Our commitment to deliver innovative products began 135 years ago, when the Kampfe Brothers, introduced the first safety razor manufactured in the United States. Building on our rich legacy, we have continued to design and manufacture dependable products that make work simpler and more productive.
Today, Personna is hailed as the top brand by professionals and consumers around the globe. We produce the sharpest and highest quality blades available in our manufacturing facilities throughout North America. Our product lines include Personna®, Personna Pro®, American Line®, American Line Pro® and GEM® by Personna®.
Building a Tradition of Quality and Innovation
Since the introduction of the Star razor in 1875, Personna has been guided by the principles of quality, innovation and superior performance. In the early 1900’s, we introduced the GEM razor and became the GEM Safety Razor Company. By 1919 we were the American Safety Razor Company, (ASR).
A recognized brand by 1935, ASR introduced surgical and industrial blades and expanded manufacturing operations to England. After launching a double-edge blade in 1942, we built airplane parts and bomb casings during World War II.
Change and innovation continued. We acquired the Pal and Personna names and moved production to Verona, Virginia in 1953. In the next decade we became part of Phillip Morris and secured the Burma Shave brand. Several exciting products followed: the tungsten steel, double-edge injector blade and the American line industrial tools in the 1970’s, and stainless surgical blades in 1986.
Personna’s Commitment Continues
Through our evolution of companies and products, one thing has never changed - our commitment to deliver quality performance and consistency in every blade and tool we make.
In 2008 we launched the American Line Pro brand, a new line of paint-scraping tools that offer professional users superior performance. Energizer Holdings’ 2011 acquisition of Personna has leveraged our dominance in the carpet segment, complementing two years of R&D and our recent launch of 14 Personna Pro Carpet installation tools. And in 2012, we will again set the industry standard for sharpness and durability with planned improvements in blade technology.
That’s why when results matter and the cost of failure is high, pros reach for Personna, where innovation doesn’t get any sharper.
